The Story of Janine and Dan - Changing The Lighting
Janine and Dan had just completed their flooring renovations and were eager to move on to the next project: lighting. I met with them and contractor to discuss the best options for their home.
I suggested recessed lighting, also known as pot lights, for a clean, modern look. We also recommended adding some pendant lights in the kitchen for a cozy, warm atmosphere. Janine loved the idea of the combo, but wanted to ensure they had enough ambient light as well.
After some discussion, Janine and Dan decided to install a combination of recessed and pendant lighting, with the contractor suggesting dimmer switches to control the ambiance of each room. They also decided to add under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen for added functionality.
Janine and Dan were thrilled with the final plan. They couldn't wait to see their home transformed with the new lighting. Thanks to our guidance, they were able to choose lighting that not only looked beautiful but also met buyers practical needs.
Changing the lighting in your home can be a quick and easy way to update the look and feel of your space. There are many different types of lighting to choose from, including overhead lighting, task lighting, and accent lighting. Each type of lighting serves a different purpose and can be used in different ways to create the desired ambiance in your home.
Overhead lighting, also known as general lighting, is used to provide general illumination to a room. This can include ceiling lights, chandeliers, and pendant lights. When choosing overhead lighting, it's important to consider the size of the room, the height of the ceiling, and the overall design of the space.
Task lighting is used to provide focused light for specific activities such as reading, cooking, or working. This can include table lamps, floor lamps, and under-cabinet lighting. Task lighting can be used to highlight specific areas of a room or to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Accent lighting is used to add visual interest and to highlight specific features of a room. This can include wall sconces, recessed lighting, and track lighting. Accent lighting can be used to add depth and dimension to a room, and it can also be used to create a sense of drama or elegance.
When changing the lighting in your home, it's important to consider the overall design of the space, the amount of natural light that enters the room, and the activities that take place in the room. It's also important to choose the right type of bulb, as different bulbs can provide different levels of light and can create different moods in a room.
